An example of how EBM works to benefit the patient/consumer - and how
big pharma doesn't control everything.
It would be good if 'evidence based medicine' had anything to do
with the FDA pulling another dangerous drug off the market. They
approved Avastin on a 'fast-track' basis without full proof that it
was safe. That should have had them looking down at the drug every
day for problems. Instead it took 2 years to get to the point of
pulling it. Maybe the drug company knew it had a loser and wanted to
recoup something from the wreckage by getting the FDA to approve it
for a while to make some bucks. That's certainly another possible
scenario.

It would be a perfect world if 'EBM' were alive and well, but my
belief from the evidence I see is that the 'evidence' is in the
control of the Big Drug Pushers' most often, as well as some of the
governmment agencies.
